Edit Footer Copyright “Proudly powered by WordPress”

Edit Footer Copyright “Proudly powered by WordPress”

All right, so Brian on YouTube just asked how to edit the footer in Sydney and how to delete the powered by wordpress section So brian you’re the man we’re going to solve it for you right [now] because I think your question is a Common one that other people have and this can apply to other wordpress themes and blogs and websites, too We’re going to learn how to edit this section right at the very bottom in the footer [alright], so let’s do it if we click customize then we We can click footer But a lot of themes don’t allow us to edit this area some of them want us to buy the pro version To get a footer editor but we don’t want to do that of course so instead we can x out and just go to the dashboard and Then we can hover on appearance and click editor alright, and we’re going to find where that footer section actually lives in our core files and Now on the right hand [side]. We’re going to look for footer dot Php we Found it so click on [‘theme] footer also known as footer dot php All right now this theme is laid out in a really simple manner so we can find the footer area right away It’s just the piece of htML in between The two divs that are right right here the dIv class site info container is The start of it And then this dIv is the end of it so we want to edit the highlighted part Your theme might be organized differently or there might be multiple files that control the footer [but] let us know in the comments, and we’ll help you find the right section to edit. It’s usually something similar to this so once we find it and Take a look at it. We can see that Sydney has written some complex code but really all this highlighted section is is just Generating this section at the bottom [that] says proudly powered by wordpress and then theme sydney by a themes, and you can see the actual text if you look at the Proudly powered by that’s just text then wordpress, but because they’re brilliant with code they can wrap [it] in these fancy stylings [so] we could just edit these sections individually like delete proudly But I want to actually delete the entire section and when we leave the dIv and the class right here Intact then the styling will also be [intact], so whatever we write here will have the styling that the theme intended All right so we’re just going to delete this but you can also edit it individually part by part if you want and Then I’m just going to show you how to write in our own footer So I’m going to copyright 2016 vertical line all rights reserved if you want to create a link you can create that by just You know writing out the a href equals something like another website or maybe your terms and conditions page or your services page something like that and Then you can just write [like] terms and conditions Or you can create that link in the wordpress new post or new page editor and just paste it in that’s an easier method Alright because sometimes we can mess this up Alright just an example footer that doesn’t look [that] good. I’m sure your footer will look better [we] can update file but just make sure you didn’t delete any pieces of the code that you intended on keeping like the alligator brackets or Other pieces that we need all right and then click update file Now when we refresh the site We’ll see we have our own custom footer on the sydney theme which should also work on virtually any wordpress theme, you’re working on Alright everyone so thanks for watching again, and I’ll talk to you soon
